Fencing

Fencing, as used here refers to the act of any person who, with intent to gain for himself or for another, shall buy, receive, possess, keep, acquire, conceal, sell or dispose of, or shall buy and sell, or in any other manner deal in any article, item, object or anything of value which he knows, or should be known to him, to have been derived from the proceeds of the crime of robbery or theft. It's basically buying stolen materials. It is a criminal offense punishable by law. We've heard a number of cases involving the theft of one of the more expensive scrap metal - tanso (considered a hot item). For junk shop owners and operators, the most difficult part of this law is this - mere possession of any good, article, item, object, or anything of value which has been the subject of robbery shall be prima facie evidence of fencing. In short, be careful with what you buy.
